Aerogel 4D

4D stands for 4 directional braiding. It is constructed using four braided fibers of superlight S-glass fiber wrapped in an aluminum sheath. The fibers are aligned at 0, 90, 22 amd -22 degree orientations which enables stress to be supported in multi directions whereas standard carbon sheets are only oriented in one direction. This means that one layer of 4D material has the equivalent properties of four layers of standard carbon layed up at different orientations. Consequently 4D material is four times more effective than standard carbon. Furthermore by using one layer, 4D is also softer and less bulky than 4 layers of carbon.

Dunlop has further enhanced its Aerogel technology by taking it to the next dimension with 4D braiding. Four directional braided material is used at key points on the racket frame to significantly increase racket stability.

- at 5 and 7 o'clock to minimise frame torsion and increase control

- at 3 and 9 o'clock for increased stability and enhanced touch and feel
